🇬🇧 In the heart of Sardinia, the village of Orgosolo stands as a silent witness to stories of life and a harsh yet captivating environment.
My photographic project, “Between Face and Landscape”, was born from the desire to explore and reveal the deep interaction between people and their natural surroundings. During a summer spent in Orgosolo, I dedicated my time to connecting with the local community, seeking to capture not just appearances but the essence of those who live in this unique setting. The black-and-white portraits in this series are the result of authentic encounters and attentive observation, revealing the marks of time and the scars left by the demands of daily life. By placing these weathered faces alongside glimpses of the surrounding pastures and countryside, I created photographic diptychs that tell a story of mutual influence: the landscape that shapes people, and people who, in turn, leave their imprint on the land they inhabit. Each image is the result of an in-depth exploration of the dialogue between environment and identity, where beauty and hardship coexist in a visually powerful balance.
The choice of detailed, high-contrast black and white was intentional — meant to highlight the expressive power of the faces and the texture of the land, creating a tension that invites reflection. Each diptych is a window into a complex and fascinating reality — a testimony to the unbreakable bond between humankind and nature.

🇮🇹 Nel cuore della Sardegna, il paese di Orgosolo si erge come un testimone silenzioso di storie di vita e di un ambiente duro ma affascinante. Il mio progetto fotografico, "Tra Volto e Paesaggio", nasce dal desiderio di esplorare e rivelare la profonda interazione tra le persone e il loro contesto naturale. Durante un’estate trascorsa a Orgosolo, ho dedicato il mio tempo a entrare in contatto con la comunità locale, cercando di cogliere non solo le apparenze ma l’essenza di chi vive in questo ambiente così unico. I ritratti in bianco e nero che compongono questa serie sono il frutto di incontri autentici e di un’osservazione attenta, volta a rivelare le tracce del tempo e le cicatrici lasciate dal duro vivere quotidiano. Accostando i volti segnati dalla vita a scorci dei pascoli e delle campagne circostanti, ho creato dei dittici fotografici che raccontano una storia di reciproca influenza: il paesaggio che modella e modifica le persone, e le persone che, a loro volta, lasciano la loro impronta sul territorio che abitano. Ogni immagine è il risultato di un’intensa esplorazione del dialogo tra ambiente e identità, in cui la bellezza e la durezza coesistono in un equilibrio visivamente potente. La scelta del bianco e nero, incisivo e dettagliato, è stata pensata per esaltare la forza espressiva dei volti e la texture del paesaggio, creando un contrasto che invita alla riflessione. Ogni dittico è una finestra su una realtà complessa e affascinante, una testimonianza di come l’uomo e la natura siano indissolubilmente legati.
